Well color me happy.
Hey white (Simply White 2016), step aside. Benjamin Moore reveals its 2017 Color of the Year: Shadow.
Taking inspiration from berry colors, shadows, and fine art; Shadow is a deep amethyst color, appearing gray and violet in different light/ times of day.
It ebbs and flows with its surroundings, and light brings it to life. Rich, royal amethyst can fade into the soft lilac-grey of distant mountains or morph into lustrous coal. Indulge your mysterious side. Let Shadow set the mood. -Ellen O’Neill Creative Director
Benjamin Moore’s small team of creatives put together a fine palette of 23 colors to accompany Shadow. At the Portland, OR University Club November 10, Benjamin Moore presented the 2017 color palette. The presenter explained that there is so much that goes into selecting the colors; lots of travel, 1000’s of pictures taken by the team, magazine pages ripped out for inspiration, and something emerges. It’s an intense process that is led by Benjamin Moore’s Research Creative Director Ellen O’Neill. The colors are a reflection of what they feel is taking place in society today and they have mere months to put it all together.
I think they did a great job. I love the color palette this year. Lots of soft neutrals and rich jewel tones. These will look really nice alongside the favored white and grey.
